SONAMET operates according to the state-of-the-art HSE practices in the industry. These practices are inspired from the most stringent North Sea requirements and respond to the concern of delivering quality work, i.e. with the target of showing zero injury and no incidents on project completion. SONAMET has received several HSE awards by operators such as ChevronTexaco (CABGOC) and ExxonMobil for excellent results.
Safety training and risk prevention are the two areas on which the yard dedicates continuous effort.




Emphasis has been put on monitoring the malaria risk to the best of the yard’s ability. The Malaria Control Programme, first put in place with the collaboration of ExxonMobil, has now gained the support of the WHO. Prevention heavily relies on communication and education as well as on the free distribution of impregnated mosquito nets, the control of potentially infested areas on the yard, the treatment of personnel and the commitment of the Management.

Safety Training and Risk Prevention are the object of permanent focus and dedicated programmes. External HSE audits are carried out by clients such as ExxonMobil, CABGOC, BP, TOTAL, Cameron, FMC, Kvaerner, DSME, Technip and Saipem.
