SONAMET

YARD

Sonamet yard is located in Lobito’s bay which is 500 km south of Luanda (Angola’s capital), in the Benguela province. It is next to the Lobito Port, one of the most important ports of the West African coast, because of its extension and depth.

 

The yard is spread over an area of 80 hectares with 12,000 m² of workshops including 4 white workshops of 4,700 m² and two quays.

WHITE WORKSHOPS

  • 4-off White Whorkshops

  • Can accommodate up to 8 manifolds simultaneously

  • Equipped with lead wall for parallel RT activities

  • Expertise with Stainless Steel, Duplex and Super Duplex welding

  • Capabilities to weld with orbital machines from 3/8" to 1"

BLACK WORKSHOPS & ASSEMBLY LINES

  • 2-off Black Workshops with an overall area of 2,450 m²

  • 1-off Bracing assembly line with a profile cutting (CNC) machine

  • Suction Anchors & Piles assembly lines with dedicated rolling machines

  • Dedicated assembly line for Jacket legs and piles assembly 

  • 5-off oxy-cutting (CNC) machines and 1-off beam cutting machine

RISER TOWER LINE

  • 250 meter line made of 17-off gantry cranes having a SWL of 15mT each

  • Prefabrication lines on the side to produce 48m spools

  • End of the main line has a smooth transition to the sea for pulling with tug boats the assembled riser towers

PIPE IN PIPE & DOUBLE JOINTS LINES

  • 2-off workshops with an overall area of 9,000 m² including 3,000 m² covered.

  • Assembly lines fully equipped with transfer cars and rollers to accommodate an efficient production of double joints (24m long) and Pipe in pipe up to 24" OD.

FINAL ERECTION AREAS

  • 2-off areas of 70,000 m² each dedicated to assembly of massive/wide structures

  • Each area has a direct access to their dedicated quay by skidding or through crawler cranes

  • Ground bearing capacity above 50 mT/m² everywhere on the erection areas to ensure safe erection activities including crawling with heavy crawler cranes

MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL WORKSHOP

  • Machine shop equipped with all the basic machines such as milling machine, lathes, etc.

  • Dedicated workshop for electronic and electrical departments

  • In-house power plants with 5.5 kVA generators

CIVIL WORKSHOPS

  • In-house concrete batching plant

  • All equipment required for land civil works (ground leveling & compaction, pile vibration)

  • Dredger with a dredging capability of 600 m³ per hour

  • Hyperbaric chamber with all necessary equipment for under water work

STORAGE FACILITIES

  • 1,700 m² indoor storage area with in&out control access

  • Temperature controlled room of 54 m²

  • Dedicated storage area for stainless steels items

  • Up to 15,600 m² uncovered storage space

SPOOL BASE (in construction - Expected to be commissioned in November 2023)

Sonamet continues to invest in the Angolan industry and will soon be equiped with the only spool base of Angola and more generally in West-Africa. The spoolbase will have the below charateristics:

​

  • The base runs 1039 m length, covering a total area of 32,500m²

  • Capacity to build stalks up to 750m

  •  A firing line of 130m long by 15m width at the feeding area and 8m width on the rest of the firing line

  • 8 working stations 

  • Spooling to be done on the quay of Yard 2 (cf. above)

  • Capability to produce all rigid flowlines products including pipe-in-pipe and polymer lined products
